What we build

Custom tooling. Start to finish.

Metallic tooling is the core of the shop: the fixtures and dies that hold, trim, form, and check aerospace parts. We also work in composites, plastics, and other materials, and we take on work outside aerospace when the project is a good fit for both sides.

  • Assembly fixtures
  • Trim tools
  • Hot-form dies
  • Hammer dies
  • Holding fixtures
  • Check fixtures
  • Weld fixtures

Capabilities

One shop. Every step.

Engineering, CNC programming, machining, welding, inspection, and delivery under one roof. One supplier from the drawing to the dock.

01

Design and programming

In-house tool design and NC programming. CATIA V5 and Mastercam seats, backed by more than 20 years of engineering experience. Build to our design or to yours.

02

5-axis CNC machining

Two large-envelope Fidia 5-axis machines, an Okuma, and a Fryer 5X-120 for complex geometry and tight tolerances.

03

Conventional machining

Jig mill, knee mills, lathes, surface grinders, and saws for the work that doesn’t need five axes.

04

Weld and fab

MIG, TIG, and specialty welding for structural assemblies, weldments, and tooling frames.

05

Precision inspection

FARO arm, Leica laser tracker, and certified surface tables. Work is verified in-house before it ships.

06

Prototyping

Rapid prototypes when a design is still moving, so the next iteration comes back fast.

Equipment

The iron.

Big-envelope 5-axis capacity, backed by conventional machining, welding, and metrology.

How it works

From drawing to dock.

Send the package

A statement of work or work instructions, plus drawings or 3D models. We accept CATIA V5 or V4, STEP, IGES, and Parasolid.

Engineering review

A program manager works as your liaison with our engineers, whether we design the tool or build to your design.

Program, machine, weld

NC programming, 5-axis and conventional machining, and welding, all in-house.

Inspect and deliver

Metrology checks against your model, then delivery. Turnkey from start to finish.

Projects

Work that shipped.

Engineering, CNC programming, machining, welding, inspection, and delivery. Every one of these left the shop in Wichita.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Don’t see your question? Call 316-201-1772.

Does Raptor only work on aerospace tooling?

No. Raptor has taken on, and will take on, any tooling project that is a good fit for both Raptor and the customer.

Does Raptor have engineering capabilities?

Yes. The team has more than 20 years of experience designing tooling, with in-house tool design and NC programming.

Will Raptor work with our engineers or use our tool designs?

Yes. In most cases Raptor assigns a program manager to work as the liaison between Raptor and your engineering department.

What do I need to get a project started?

Ideally, a statement of work or work instructions describing the task. Drawings or 3D models help. Raptor accepts CATIA V5 or V4, STEP, IGES, and Parasolid.

Do you offer design support or just manufacturing?

Both. The in-house engineering team offers design consultation, NC programming, and tool design so the project meets your specifications.

Can you handle large or complex parts?

Yes. Large-envelope 5-axis machining, tables rated to 100,000 lb, and an experienced team handle large components and complex geometry with tight tolerances.
